Edge fracture of the first and third-generation high-strength steels: DP1000 and QP1000

Abstract Advanced high-strength steels (AHSS) have shown profound progress in improving tensile ductility or global formality the last decades over three generations. For a complete assessment of both and local formability, this study aims to characterize compare edge fracture behavior first third-generation AHSS (dual-phase steel quenching & partitioning steel) with same nominal strength level 980 MPa. Uniaxial tests are performed properties. Hole expansion conducted two conditions based on separated preparation techniques (waterjet polishing punching) investigate for materials. The hole ratios fractures compared between materials conditions. It is concluded that investigated QP1000 has promoted formability while DP1000 shows better due its damage-tolerant crack-resistant responses.
